The Penn State Cancer Institute Difference
Multidisciplinary Teams When you're seen at Penn State Cancer Institute, you'll be treated by a team of physicians. You're main physician (what we call the attending physician) will coordinate with his or her colleauges to determine the best possible treatment options for your specific case. Our Physicians As an academic medical center, we see a disproportiate number of complex cases. Our physicians are honed by constant exposure to cases that are rarely treated by those in private practice or community hospitals. We offer this experience to you as a patient of the Penn State Cancer Institute. New Therapies Research is making progress everyday in the fight against cancer. Some of that progress is being made right here in Hershey and much is happening at other academic research universities and within pharmaceutical companies. We offer hundreds of experimental therapies (called clinical trials) for which you may be eligible. Our Technology From the latest image guided radiation therapy to stringent patient identification procedures in our infusion room we keep ourselves at the tip of cancer treatment technology. The fusion of clinical care and medical research that drives our center is put to work in the treatment and care of our patients. We are passionate about giving our very best to every one who comes to us for help, and to that end we employ state of the art technology in our fight to cure cancer. Our Partners & Affiliates The Penn State Cancer Institute delivers cancer services throughout central and eastern Pennsylvania. The Institute's mission includes clinical care, research, education and community outreach. The Penn State Cancer Institute brings the benefits of cancer-related research and education at Penn State's College of Medicine to the care of patients at Penn State Hershey Medical Center.
